Less common make? The process is the same: send the model, year and a photo of the battery label.

How it works

From your location pin to a car that starts

Four steps, and you know what is happening at each one. Nothing is fitted until the battery has been tested.

  1. 1

    Share where the car is

Send a location pin with the road name, direction of travel and the nearest exit or landmark. In a basement, add the level and bay.

  2. 2

    Confirm the car details

Make, model and year, plus a photo of the battery label if you can. That is how the right battery gets loaded.

  3. 3

    Get an arrival estimate

We check access and technician availability, then tell you when to expect us before anyone sets off.

  4. 4

    Test, then jump or replace

The technician tests the battery, explains the reading and carries out a jump start or a replacement. The car is started before he leaves.

Which battery fits my car?

The correct battery matches four things: case size, terminal layout, capacity (Ah) and technology (flooded, EFB or AGM). The surest reference is the label on the battery already fitted. Send us the make, model and year, or a photo of that label, and we confirm the match before the technician sets off.

Does a BMW or Mercedes need battery registration?

Most modern BMWs do. The new battery has to be registered with a diagnostic tool so the car resets its charging strategy, and coded if the type or capacity changes. Mercedes-Benz models vary: many adapt on their own, some need a reset. Tell us the model and year and we check.

Does a start-stop car need an AGM battery?

It needs either AGM or EFB, whichever the manufacturer fitted. A car that left the factory with AGM must get AGM again. A car that came with EFB can take EFB, and can often be upgraded to AGM. Check the label on the existing battery or send us a photo.

Can I fit a normal battery in a start-stop car?

It will start the car, but we advise against it. A standard flooded battery is not built for the constant restarts and partial charging of a start-stop system, so it tends to fail early. The start-stop function may also stop working and battery warnings can appear.
