Can engine repair be done at my location?
Only the first check. A technician can scan fault codes, check fluids and look for obvious leaks where the car is parked. Actual engine repair needs a workshop with a lift and proper tools, so the car is driven in if it is safe or collected on a flatbed.
What is the difference between gearbox repair and transmission repair on this site?
Gearbox repair here means manual and automated-manual units, where faults are mainly mechanical. Transmission repair covers conventional automatics, CVT and dual-clutch units, where fluid, valve body, solenoids and software are the usual suspects. If you are not sure which you have, tell us the car and we will direct you.
Can suspension work be done at my location?
No. The car has to be on a lift to check for play, and alignment needs a calibrated machine and a level surface. If the car is safe to drive, bring it in. If a spring has broken or a joint has failed, we arrange a flatbed.
How long do brake pads last?
There is no fixed figure. It depends on driving style, traffic, the weight of the car and the pad material. City driving with frequent stops wears pads faster than highway use. Having the thickness measured at each service is more reliable than counting kilometres.
Will the new paint match the rest of the car?
The aim is a match you cannot pick out in daylight. The paint is mixed from the code, test-sprayed and compared with the car, then adjusted. On faded or metallic paint the colour is usually blended into the adjacent panel so there is no visible step.
What does a pre-purchase inspection cover?
Bodywork and paint thickness, signs of accident repair, engine bay and fluids, a computer scan for fault codes, battery and charging system, AC, electrics, tyres, brakes and a test drive. The underside is checked as far as it can be seen without a lift.
