Exide was founded in the United States in 1888 and has been making lead-acid batteries for longer than cars have been common. The Exide automotive range described here is the one from Exide Technologies in Europe, a factory-fit supplier to European carmakers with plants across the continent. Exide-branded batteries from other regions come from separate companies, so the label tells you which one you have.
Exide in UAE heat
The Premium line uses carbon additives on the negative plates, which Exide calls Carbon Boost, to help the battery accept charge faster. That is useful here, where short trips with the AC running leave batteries undercharged, and an undercharged battery suffers most in heat. Is Exide an American or a European battery?
Both, historically. The company was founded in the United States in 1888, and the Exide name is now used by separate businesses in different regions. The range with Premium, Excell and Start-Stop lines comes from Exide Technologies in Europe. The label shows where a given battery was made.
What is the difference between Exide Premium and Excell?
Both are sealed conventional batteries. Premium has more cranking current and capacity in the same case, plus carbon additives that help it recharge faster. Excell is the standard choice for cars with modest equipment. Neither is meant for a start-stop car.
Should I choose Exide EFB or AGM?
