How Omoda cars treat their batteries in the UAE

Battery technology

Petrol Omoda models use a 12V lead-acid battery in a European-style case. Versions with idle stop-start are built with a start-stop rated battery (EFB or AGM, depending on model and trim), and the replacement must match that. Because specifications have changed between model years, we work from the label on the fitted battery, not from a generic chart. The electric E5 has a small 12V battery that supports the electronics only.

Fitting and registration

The battery is under the bonnet with reasonable access, held by a base clamp, with a sensor on the negative terminal on better-equipped versions. A like-for-like replacement does not normally need registering with a tool. After reconnecting, the clock, one-touch windows and some driver-assist settings may need resetting. Cars still under manufacturer warranty should have the swap noted, and we give you the invoice with the battery details for your records.

Which battery does an Omoda C5 use?

It depends on the engine, model year and whether the car has idle stop-start. Some cars use a conventional flooded battery and others a start-stop rated one. The safe way is to read the label on the battery under the bonnet. Send us a photo and we match type, size and terminals.

Will replacing the battery outside the dealer affect my Omoda warranty?

We cannot speak for the dealer, so check your warranty booklet or ask them. In general, the 12V battery is a wear item with its own shorter cover. Fitting the correct type and keeping the invoice is sensible. Our batteries carry their own warranty of up to 24 months.

Does an Omoda need programming after a battery change?

A like-for-like battery does not normally need programming. You may have to reset the clock and the one-touch windows, and stop-start can take a few drives to return while the car relearns the battery state. If warnings remain after that, the car should be scanned.

Why did my Omoda battery go flat after a holiday?

Connected features, alarm and keyless systems keep drawing a small current while the car is parked, and summer heat reduces what the battery can hold. Two or three weeks can be enough on an older battery. A jump start gets you moving; a test then shows whether it needs replacing.
