How Nissan cars treat their batteries in the UAE

Battery technology

Sunny, Sentra, Altima, Maxima and the Patrol use conventional flooded or maintenance-free batteries in JIS sizes. Newer models fitted with idle stop need an EFB or AGM battery. Many recent Nissans have a current sensor on the negative terminal that controls charging, so the correct battery type matters more than it used to.

Fitting and registration

Under the bonnet, usually on the left or right front corner with a top bracket. No registration is needed on most models. After reconnecting, some cars need the power window auto function reset and the idle may hunt briefly until the engine computer relearns. The negative terminal sensor must be refitted carefully, not levered off.

My Nissan clicks but will not start. Is the battery dead?

Clicking with dimming lights usually points to low battery voltage or a poor terminal connection. A single heavy click with bright lights can be the starter instead. We test the battery and the connections first, and only replace the battery if the test shows it has failed.

Does a Nissan Patrol need a special battery?

It needs the correct large case size and enough cranking power for its engine, plus reserve for the AC and electronics. If the Patrol has a fridge, amplifier or extra lighting, we recommend the higher capacity option in the same size. The label on the old battery is the best guide.

Why is my Nissan idling roughly after a battery change?

Disconnecting the battery clears the idle settings the engine computer has learned. On many Nissans the idle is unsteady for a short while and then settles after the engine warms up and the car is driven. If it does not settle, a workshop can run the idle relearn with a scan tool.

Can you change a Nissan battery in a basement car park?
