Later Mitsubishi Space Star model years may have start-stop or a battery sensor that controls charging. Where they do, the replacement has to be the same type (EFB or AGM) and may need registering to the car.

On older Mitsubishi Space Star model years the fault is sometimes a corroded terminal, a tired earth strap or a weak alternator, not the battery itself, which is why the charging system is tested before we recommend a replacement.

Flooded or maintenance-free batteries across Lancer, Attrage, Mirage, ASX, Pajero and L200. Versions with Auto Stop and Go need an EFB or AGM battery made for repeated restarts. The Outlander PHEV has a separate 12V auxiliary battery alongside its drive battery, and it can go flat like any other.

Under the bonnet with a top bar clamp on almost every model; on the Outlander PHEV the 12V battery is in the rear load area. No registration. Expect to reset the clock, radio presets and one-touch windows. Small models have short cables, so the terminal positions must match the original.
