Later Hyundai Grandeur model years may have start-stop or a battery sensor that controls charging. Where they do, the replacement has to be the same type (EFB or AGM) and may need registering to the car.

On older Hyundai Grandeur model years the fault is sometimes a corroded terminal, a tired earth strap or a weak alternator, not the battery itself, which is why the charging system is tested before we recommend a replacement.

Most petrol Hyundais use maintenance-free flooded (calcium) batteries. Models with Idle Stop and Go use AGM. Many have a battery sensor on the negative terminal that feeds the alternator management system. Some hybrids, the first Ioniq Hybrid among them, use a 12V lithium unit built into the hybrid pack, which is not a roadside replacement item.

Under the bonnet on nearly all models, with a base clamp or top bracket. The older rear-wheel-drive Genesis saloon keeps it in the boot. No registration tool is required on most cars; the sensor recalibrates on its own after the car has been left locked for a few hours.
